A 32-year-old Argentine tourist died after being struck by lightning in the Cusco region of Peru. The victim was identified as Gabriela Daiana Basallo, and the incident occurred on the "Valle Rojo" mountain, located in the Pitumarca district, Canchis province.

Tour guide Efraín Zamora Galindo alerted the authorities about the tragic event, stating that the electrical discharge occurred at noon on Tuesday while the woman was returning with a group of tourists exploring the mountainous area. Zamora Galindo explained that the snow-capped "Valle Rojo" can be reached in approximately an hour and a half by car, describing rainy and snowy conditions in the area. The location where Gabriela's body was found is rural, about six kilometers from the nearest access point.

The victim's partner, Samuel Andrés, a Chilean national, was injured and taken to Cusco for medical attention. Local authorities, in collaboration with the Emergency Squad of the Sicuani Police Division, went to the mountain and recovered the tourist's body with authorization from the Canchis Prosecutor's Office.

Gabriela's body showed signs of burns and was taken to the Sicuani morgue for an autopsy, which will be carried out by the Public Ministry.
