The Colombian singer Shakira, amidst her tour 'Women Don’t Cry Anymore', was forced to postpone her scheduled concert this Sunday at the National Stadium in Lima, Peru. The artist, known for hits like 'La bicicleta', started her tour on February 11 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where she participated in the closing of the 2014 FIFA World Cup at the Maracanã stadium.
Shakira, a winner of 15 Latin Grammys and three Grammy Awards, is in the early stage of her Latin American concerts, which after her stop in Brazil, include Peru, Colombia, Chile, and Argentina. She will then continue in North America with performances in Mexico, the United States, Canada, and the Dominican Republic.
The singer was hospitalized due to abdominal discomfort, as she informed through a statement on Instagram. Local media reports that Shakira arrived at a clinic in Lima with symptoms of gastritis. She lamented the situation and expressed sadness for not being able to perform as scheduled.
In her message, Shakira said: 'I am very sad not to be able to take the stage today. My team and the promoter are already working on a new date to inform you.' The artist's tour includes a second concert at the National Stadium in Peru on Monday, February 17, and a stop in her hometown of Barranquilla, Colombia, on the 20th of this month.
Shakira's tour also faced changes, as it was announced that her concert on February 23 in Medellín, Colombia, would be moved to the following day due to logistical issues. Regarding Mexico, the singer has scheduled 11 shows in different cities starting March 12 in Monterrey, Nuevo León.
Shakira's tour is inspired by her recent release 'Women Don’t Cry Anymore', which earned her the Grammy for Best Latin Pop Album. The song list includes hits like 'La tortura', 'Hips don’t lie', and 'Ojos así', among others.
With information from EFE, Shakira hopes to recover soon to provide the show she has prepared for her audience, showing great excitement to reunite with her Peruvian fans.
