Most victims died due to landslides, caused by overflowing rivers from the banks due to prolonged rains in the Andes and Amazon regions.
During the rainy season in Peru, the situation typically continues to worsen, and it is becoming increasingly critical. According to the institute's information, more than 47,000 people have been forced to leave their homes, 3,098 houses have been destroyed, and 19,000 have become uninhabitable since December. The National Institute for the Protection of Citizens called for the continuation of monitoring the situation and the provision of assistance to those affected by natural disasters.
