Belaúnde Llosa was traveling in his car in Cerro Azul when he received several shots that hit the windshield, but without causing him serious injuries, according to images shared by his political group on social networks, where he is seen with bloodstains on his head and shirt.
Former Prime Minister and founder of Libertad Popular, Pedro Cateriano, confirmed the attack on the RPP radio station and stated that it was "a bad start to the campaign," in reference to the general elections to be held on April 12, 2026.
