World Cargo Symposium 2026 to be Held in Lima

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) will hold the World Cargo Symposium 2026 (WCS) from Tuesday, March 10, to Thursday, March 12, in Lima, Peru, under the slogan “Driving Air Cargo in a Dynamic World”. The Peruvian capital thus positions itself as the epicenter of global logistics by hosting the world's largest air cargo event. It will be attended by airlines, cargo operators, technology solution companies, and specialized media, including the Argentine News Agency. This edition, backed and organized by LATAM Cargo, marks a historic milestone for the region as it is the first time the industry's most relevant air cargo meeting has moved to South America. Under the banner of driving air cargo in a dynamic world, the symposium seeks to consolidate the strategic role of South American nations on the map of international trade. The development of this forum occurs in a context of transformation for the sector, following a 2025 year-end in which demand for air freight transport experienced a growth of 3.4 percent. Willie Walsh, IATA's Director General, stated that this increase is directly linked to the reconfiguration of global supply chains. According to the executive's vision, the primary focus of the events in the Peruvian capital will be “to strengthen the sector's capacity for response and reliability in the face of the evolution of commercial routes and the growing valuation of speed in delivery”. The academic and professional agenda of the event is structured around fundamental pillars that include the digitalization of specialized flows, the analysis of regulatory priorities, and advances in specialized cargo transport. In addition to the main conferences, technical sessions have been designed to explore practical methods that allow the supply chain to adopt new technologies, improve sustainability standards, and strengthen operational resilience against geopolitical and economic challenges. This exchange of knowledge is essential considering that air transport supports more than 30 percent of the value of world trade, being a vital artery for critical industries such as pharmaceuticals and perishable goods. Andrés Bianchi, Executive Director of LATAM Cargo, stated that holding this symposium on Peruvian soil underscores the vital role that air cargo plays in connecting South America with global markets. For the executive, strengthening this connectivity is a direct engine for economic development and support for regional trade. With an expected participation of over 1,400 professionals, including representatives of airlines, cargo operators, and technology solution providers, the event is shaping up to be a high-level space to establish the global standards that will govern the industry in the coming years. Finally, the World Cargo Symposium 2026 follows the successful previous edition held in Dubai, where the massive attendance of specialists set a high standard for the sector. On this occasion, Lima not only offers a space for debate on innovation and customs security, but also provides the opportunity to generate strategic alliances in a highly specialized technical environment. The gathering of the main leaders in air transport guarantees that discussions on efficiency and sustainability will translate into concrete actions that benefit commercial integration on a global scale.
