Copa Libertadores: Decisive Matches This Week

The Peruvian team will define at home and has the 2-1 advantage obtained in the first leg. On Wednesday, March 12, two matches will take place: from 7 PM, Cerro Porteño and Melgar will animate another key of the tournament. With a total of four keys, the Copa Libertadores will define from this Tuesday until next Thursday the teams that will enter the Group Stage, as the second leg of Phase 3 will be played.

Among Alianza Lima from Peru, Deportes Iquique from Chile, Cerro Porteño from Paraguay, Melgar from Peru, Corinthians from Brazil, Barcelona from Ecuador, Bahia from Brazil, and Boston River from Uruguay, the four teams that will regularly compete in the most relevant continental tournament will emerge, while the losers will go to the Copa Sudamericana.

The first match will take place this Tuesday, March 11, at 7 PM, between Alianza Lima, which eliminated Boca in the preliminary phase, and Deportes Iquique. The Paraguayan team won 1-0 in the first leg and is confident in leveraging their home advantage.

Additionally, at 9:30 PM, the Corinthians of Argentine Ramón Díaz will have a tough match ahead, as they will host Barcelona SC in Brazil, but they must play a perfect game to at least force a penalty shootout. The "Timao" did not have a good time in Ecuador and was thrashed 3-0, a result that left them on the brink of elimination.

Finally, on Thursday, March 13, at 9:30 PM, Bahia and Boston River will face off in Brazil after drawing 0-0 in Uruguay. All matches will be broadcasted on the ESPN channel and the Disney+ platform. The winners of each key will enter the Group Stage of the Copa Libertadores 2025, while the losers will do so in the Sudamericana 2025.
