The Supreme Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, for its part, stated that it obtained pretrial detention for Chávez 'for the crime of rebellion and alternatively conspiracy, to the detriment of the State.' Chávez, who has been on trial since March 2025, faces a 25-year prison sentence. She has been in the residence of the Mexican embassy in Lima for 18 days, waiting for a safe-conduct to leave the country.
