Peruvian President Jose He announced on Friday that his country will declare a state of emergency along its border with Chile, as migrants seek to cross into the country, after the leading presidential candidate in Chile pledged to deport undocumented migrants. General Arturo Valverde, head of Peru's police, said on Friday that there are 100 foreigners, mostly Venezuelans, on the border seeking to enter Peru. He stated that the state of emergency will 'provide a degree of calm in the face of the danger of entry of migrants without permits'.
